Hey all.
I've got a 7 install which doesn't have any audio. On xp, i'd just be able to open the setup for the driver in run and press enter a few times once the activitty had died down or run it in silent mode.
However, i'm guessing that uac's probably going to pop up at some point in the driver install process and if I remember correctly, the default option is cancel.
If anyones installed audio drivers on there own, could you give me some idea of what i'm going to encounter?
Thanks for any input, BEN.
i believe that alt + Y for yes gets you through most UAC prompts in windows 7. other wiseif its a cancel and continue UAC dialogue box you can try a single, double, or triple tab to get you to the right option. or there is always the option of disabling UAC.
UAC, something that was added in Vista which serves no purpose other than to falsely convince people that their computers are more secure. I agree, try alt Y for yes, or alt N for next. When I installed the beta version of 7 earlier this year, the audio drivers installed automatically.
Well UAC does serve a purpose and can help you protect your computer, the problem is most people just gett in to the habbit of clicking yes or allow or whatever without paying attention to the message and then its just pointless.
I don't see how UAC helps at all. If I could, I'd put sygate personal firewall on this seven laptop, but it doesn't seem to run for some reason.
just like when you go to run an app vista or 7 will block it and force you to acknowledge that yu are aware of it running and that you want to run said program or application, if something melicious get s on your system and tries to run it self uac would block it and ask if you want to run this app or program alerting you to its presence. Hence why if you don't pay attention and just click yes or continue it defeats the purpose. This is also why things that do require full administrative prevaliges will require you to right click on it and go to run as adminstrator even though you are logged in as administrator,
